Presentation of Project Outcomes, Citizen Dialogue and Environmental Awareness, Greece,Alexandroupolis, 10 June 2026

As part of the CERV-funded project “Active Cities – Green Cities” (Act Green), a local dissemination and citizen-engagement event was organised on 10 of June in Alexandroupolis, Greece, by System and G. The event aimed to present the main results and achievements of the project while creating an open, accessible, and participatory environment for discussion on environmental sustainability, active citizenship, and democratic participation.
The activity was aligned with the broader objectives of the Active Cities – Green Cities project, which promotes citizen engagement, environmental sustainability, and democratic governance across Europe, with particular attention to young people, women, local communities, and decision-makers.
Participants from Alexandroupolis and the wider region attended the event, including young people, citizens, representatives of civil society, local stakeholders, and individuals interested in environmental and community-related issues.
The event began with a welcome session and a brief introduction to the CERV Programme and the Active Cities – Green Cities project. Participants were introduced to the project's objectives, implemented activities, European dimension, and overall contribution to strengthening participation and environmental awareness at local level.
A dedicated session followed for the presentation of the main outcomes of the project. The organising team presented the activities implemented throughout the project, the involvement of citizens and stakeholders, the exchange of experiences and good practices between participating communities, and the main lessons emerging from the local, international, and online activities.
Particular attention was given to the ways in which European cooperation can contribute to greener communities, stronger civic participation, and increased interaction between citizens, civil society organisations, and local institutions.
Following the presentation, participants took part in an open round-table discussion and interactive debate. They were encouraged to share their own experiences, opinions, and ideas concerning environmental sustainability, citizen participation, local initiatives, youth involvement, and possible actions that could contribute to more active and environmentally responsible communities.
To create a more informal and welcoming atmosphere, the programme also included relaxed networking and participatory activities. During the coffee breaks, participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas informally, establish new contacts, and discuss possible future cooperation. A short green reflection activity invited participants to identify one small environmental action that could realistically be implemented in their everyday life or local community.
The event also included a brief outdoor networking and environmental awareness activity, taking advantage of the local setting of Alexandroupoli. Participants were encouraged to continue discussions in a more informal environment while reflecting on the relationship between public spaces, quality of life, environmental responsibility, and sustainable cities.
The combination of presentations, discussion, informal networking, and participatory activities helped create a friendly and inclusive environment in which participants could both receive information and actively contribute to the event.
The event concluded with a summary of the principal messages emerging from the discussion and final remarks from the organising team. Participants were encouraged to remain involved in local initiatives and to continue promoting environmental responsibility and active citizenship within their communities.
Overall, the Alexandroupoli event successfully combined project dissemination, citizen participation, environmental awareness, dialogue, and informal community-building activities, contributing to the wider objectives of the Active Cities – Green Cities project.
