Green transition and Migration, Portugal, Braga, 21 April 2026

On 21 April 2026, the workshop “Green Transition and Migration” was held at Espaço Jovem da Póvoa de Lanhoso. Organized by EducPro in collaboration with the Municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso, the event brought together 40 students for a participatory learning experience focused on the intersection between environmental sustainability and migration.



The event began with an opening session led by António Catarino, Trainer of EducPro, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of empowering young people to take an active role in building more sustainable and inclusive societies. “Young people are not just the future—they are already key actors in shaping greener and more inclusive communities today,” he noted. This was followed by an energizer activity to foster interaction among participants and a presentation of the Act Green: Active Cities – Green Cities project, which introduced its objectives and relevance in promoting active citizenship and green transition at the local and European levels.


Participants then took part in a thematic session addressing key challenges and opportunities related to green transition and migration. This was followed by interactive working groups, where students collaborated to analyze issues, exchange perspectives, and develop practical ideas for more inclusive and sustainable communities. The outcomes of these discussions were presented in plenary, encouraging dialogue and peer learning.


The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Frederico Amaro,Youth counsellor of the Municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso, who emphasized the role of local cooperation and youth participation in addressing today’s challenges. “Only through collaboration between institutions and active engagement of young people can we create solutions that are both sustainable and socially inclusive,” he stated.
